New Gift Shop Policies
After three years, the Monroe Arts Association (MAA) is firmly established. At a recent
MAA Board Meeting, the Board of Directors approved a fee adjustment to our
consignment policy. Beginning July 1, 2025, MAA’s commission on goods sold in the
gift shop will increase from 25% to 30%. As you all know, prices are rising for
everything, especially utilities. We strive to make art accessible for everyone in our rural
community. However, to keep MAA alive, we need to increase our revenue stream. The
5% increase shouldn’t eat into your profits too much, but it will make it easier to keep
our doors open. I would note that 30% is still better than most places that take 40% or
more. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns about this new policy.
Check cashing policies have also changed in order to keep accounting more efficient.
The table below gives details on the new guidelines. Checks that are not cashed by the
indicated date, will convert into a donation to MAA.
If check is issued in
these months:
The check needs to be
picked up and cashed by
end of:
Q1 January - March June
Q2 April - June September
Q3 July - September December
Q4 November - December March

We are here to support the association financially and to support the mission of the association in terms of education. We want to provide a space for local artists to gain exposure for their work. The gift shop allows visitors to take a little piece of MAA home with them.
